Spoiler
- Dark web: w rozmowie z Hodgesem albo przekonujemy go do oddania zwoju retoryką, albo sakiewką. Proste? Proste.
I really think the rhetoric system should be reformed in the 0066.3 patch in order to make farming rhetoric points a non-obligatory side activity, so instead of forcing the player to do so, the game would gratify them, at the same time preserving the possibility NOT to farm rhetoric, because it really can, and more often than not DOES, get absolutely annoying.
Some of my personal projects on the subject:
Spoiler
- "Dark web" quest: When confronting Hodges about the dark scroll, you either use rhetoric to get it, or you buy Hodges' compliance. Some 1000 gold pieces should suffice to make it profitable to have rhetoric, but not blocking your progress when you don't.
- Ur-Thrall: In order to get to the iron mine, you need to liberate the swamp ("Dark rituals") and have 60 rhetoric points while talking to him about it. Why not replace the "and" with "or"? Perfectionists (well, and me) will go to the swamp either way.
- Greg in Chapter VII: 90 rhetoric points is a lot. And all it does is unlock the dialogue option that used to be there by definition. So it can very well BE there by definition, while rhetoric (90 points of it, no less!) would unlock a third one, by grace of which our hero could convince Greg to join the paladins immediately. Then, say, you get more XP and maybe some ore from Hagen...
My point is that in a mod so action-oriented as Returning is, the need to go stealing and talking your way out so many times to have the bloody rhetoric points is not just boring. It is FRUSTRATING. And it got me frustrated more than once when I played the last time on 0066.2. THIS IS MY OPINION, but I won't be surprised if it's shared with others. I believe a solution of the sort that my concepts are would really improve the gameplay for some... For me, it definitely will.
